[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Tae-woo, head of Gangseo-gu, visited five cities consecutively over two days on the 2nd and 3rd: Wanju, Imsil, Jeongeup in Jeonbuk, and Yeosu, Suncheon in Jeonnam, to discuss ways to activate exchanges between the cities.

On the morning of the 3rd, Kim visited Yeosu City Hall and signed a ‘Sister City Revitalization Business Agreement’ to further strengthen mutual exchange and cooperation.

The agreement includes ▲special discount benefits for local residents at major tourist attractions ▲mutual cultural exchanges for youth ▲promotion of the Hometown Love Donation Program.

On the same afternoon, Kim visited Suncheon to support the successful hosting of the ‘Suncheonman International Garden Expo’ opening on April 1. In particular, he plans to sign a commitment to purchase admission tickets worth 20 million KRW for the expo.

On the first day of the tour, the 2nd, he visited Wanju-gun in Jeonbuk and signed a ‘Sister City Agreement,’ promising to join forces for mutual development.

That afternoon, he visited Imsil-gun and Jeongeup City consecutively. In Imsil, he strengthened friendship between the two cities and toured major tourist sites such as Imsil Theme Park and Okjeongho Suspension Bridge.

He then moved to Jeongeup City Hall to participate in the ‘Hometown Love Donation Program.’ Kim said, “It is a good system that revitalizes the hometown and allows donors to receive local specialties as gifts in return. I hope many people will join in revitalizing the region.”

This sister city tour schedule was planned to promote exchange activation among sister cities and benchmark excellent policies that can be applied to district administration.

Kim Tae-woo, along with local government heads of the sister cities, sought ways for the cities to develop together and added significance by further strengthening exchange and cooperation.

Kim Tae-woo said, “It was a meaningful time sharing various opinions and ideas for mutual development of each city. We will continue to cooperate so that Gangseo-gu and its sister cities can coexist and prosper together.”
