[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 3rd, the Democratic Party criticized the People Power Party's pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Suk-yeol) lawmakers for attacking Ahn Cheol-soo, a People Power Party lawmaker and candidate for party leader, saying "President Yoon Suk-yeol should concurrently serve as party leader."
Kim Hyun-jung, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said in a briefing that "the People Power Party's convention, stained with slander and defamation, is escalating day by day to the point where it is hard to watch with open eyes," adding, "The Yoon core faction collectively launched an 'Ahn Cheol-soo attack' after Ahn repeatedly surpassed Kim Ki-hyun in recent opinion polls," calling it "a group lynching following former lawmaker Na Kyung-won."

She continued, "It is absurd to label Ahn, who served as the transition committee chairman, as a fake pro-Yoon and impose an anti-Yoon frame," and introduced that "President Yoon dismissed former lawmaker Kim Young-woo, the election campaign committee chairman of Ahn Cheol-soo's camp, from the President's Office's National Integration Committee."
Spokesperson Kim claimed, "The 'teamwork' between the president and the Yoon core faction to seize party leadership is well-coordinated," and "President Yoon and the Yoon core faction are working hand in hand to eliminate those they dislike in order to control the party."
She added, "Furthermore, President Yoon encouraged his presidential office aides to 'definitely run in elections if given the opportunity,'" interpreting this as "an expression of intent to fight the next general election with pro-Yoon personnel."
Spokesperson Kim said, "With livelihood and the economy neglected, and only obsessed with seizing party leadership and coveting the nomination rights for the general election, the procedures for the People Power Party convention have become mere formalities due to the misdeeds of President Yoon and the Yoon core faction," and stated, "If this is the case, we hope President Yoon will concurrently serve as party leader and boldly face the people's judgment in the general election."
