[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is producing and distributing support materials to revitalize School Damoim, a meeting involving all school members.
School Damoim is a meeting where all school members, including teachers, administrative staff, educational public officials, students, and parents, participate in agenda-centered discussion-type meetings rather than the traditional one-way directive or delivery-focused meetings, communicating and consulting on educational activities and school issues.
This project, operated for the first time this year, is one of the key tasks set by the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education to create a "mutually respectful school culture."
The "School Damoim Operation Support Materials" were produced based on previously published staff meeting materials, reflecting the operation cases of other city and provincial offices of education and the demands from the field.
The support materials are composed of five categories: Understanding School Damoim, Preparing, Conducting, Sharing and Reflecting Results, and Appendix. Detailed content and examples are included to be practically applied in the school field.
In the Understanding section, the concept, necessity, flow, and types according to school size and agenda of School Damoim are included, and in Preparing, guidance on making agreements and examples of agendas are provided.
The Conducting section contains environment creation, operation, proper empathy, listening, and conversation methods, and the Appendix includes utilization forms and materials.
In January, the materials were introduced as PDF files on the city education office website, and the booklets are scheduled to be distributed to schools of all levels within this month.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education operates a dedicated team to support the revitalization of School Damoim and plans to conduct an operational briefing training on the 21st for those in charge of School Damoim operation, covering operation methods, related budget planning, and utilization. At the end of the year, a collection of best practices is also planned.
An education office official said, "We hope the operation support materials will be a good guide in fostering a participatory and communicative school culture," and added, "We will do our best to support the field so that School Damoim, involving all school members, can be revitalized."
