[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is reallocating personnel to education support offices and affiliated institutions through organizational restructuring, significantly strengthening support for schools in the field.
The Office of Education will reduce its organization from the existing 1 office, 5 bureaus, and 34 divisions/departments to 1 office, 4 bureaus, and 28 divisions/departments. Instead, a total of 167 personnel (126 general staff, 41 specific staff), including 84 personnel reduced from the headquarters (71 general staff, 13 specific staff), will be reassigned to education support offices and affiliated institutions.
Departments to be abolished due to the consolidation of similar and overlapping functions include a total of seven: the Education Information Officer, Teacher Competency Development Division, Future Character Education Division, Educational Environment Improvement Division, Parent-Citizen Cooperation Division, Future School Planning Division, and Library Policy Division.
The newly established department will be the School Work Improvement Officer, responsible for practical school support roles such as supporting common administrative tasks in schools.
To strengthen support for schools in the field, the Office of Education will reassign 147 personnel to education support offices and 20 personnel to affiliated institutions following the transfer of headquarters duties such as future education policy promotion.
Earlier in January, the Office of Education additionally assigned 289 personnel to address difficulties caused by administrative staff shortages in standalone kindergartens and small schools.
Lee Eui-yong, Administrative Management Officer at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, emphasized, "We expect that this organizational restructuring will enable more efficient and systematic promotion of Gyeonggi's future education policies," adding, "By additionally assigning capable personnel to education support offices and affiliated institutions close to the school field, we will strengthen field support and increase school satisfaction."
The Office of Education will promulgate the related organizational restructuring regulations, including the 'Partial Amendment to the Enforcement Rules of the Ordinance on the Establishment of Administrative Organizations of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education' and the 'Partial Amendment to the Rules on the Number of Local Government Officials under the Gyeonggi Provincial Superintendent of Education,' in mid-this month.
