On the 2nd (local time), Kang Sung-hoon shot 2-under par on the first day of the PGA Tour AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (total prize money $9 million) held at Pebble Beach Golf Links (par 72, 6,972 yards) in Pebble Beach, California, USA, and stood tied for 47th place.

This tournament is a pro-am format played over three courses for the first three rounds, including Spyglass Hill (par 72, 7,041 yards) and Monterey Peninsula Country Club (par 71, 6,957 yards), alongside world-class sports stars, singers, and actors. The winner is decided on the final day at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Kang Sung-hoon recorded one eagle, three birdies, and three bogeys. After struggling with 1-over par through 14 holes, he showed strong finishing with an eagle on the 6th hole (par 5) and a birdie on the 9th hole (par 4). He is six strokes behind the leader but only three strokes behind the group tied for 8th place. Kang won once at the AT&T Byron Nelson in May 2019. He set the course record of 60 at this tournament in 2016. This season, he has played in four tournaments but missed the cut in all of them.

Hank Lebioda (USA) surged with an 8-under par to take the top spot on the leaderboard. Three players, including Kurt Kitayama (USA), are tied for 2nd place at 7-under par. Hero World Challenge champion Viktor Hovland (Norway) is tied for 47th, US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick (England), 'Pebble Beach specialist' Jordan Spieth, and defending champion Tom Hoge (all USA) are tied for 61st at 1-under par.

From Korea, An Byeong-hun recorded one eagle, two birdies, and two bogeys at Monterey Peninsula Country Club, tied for 47th place. No Seung-yeol is even par tied for 79th, and Kim Seong-hyun, who is challenging for the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, is struggling at 2-over par tied for 117th place.
