Fire Agency Holds 'Senior Officials Integrity Pledge Meeting'

Strengthening Commitment through Reading the Integrity Resolution Statement and More

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The National Fire Agency announced on the 3rd that it held a ‘Senior Officials Integrity Pledge Meeting’ attended by about 20 high-ranking officials of grade 4 or higher (Fire Commissioner, grade 4) from the National Fire Agency at the Sejong Government Complex 2 auditorium the previous day.

This pledge meeting was organized to establish a control tower system for anti-corruption and integrity centered on senior officials and to lead the establishment of an integrity organizational culture. On this day, the Acting Commissioner of the National Fire Agency and the Cheongnyeom Han Fire Leaders Group read the integrity pledge and reaffirmed their commitment to practicing integrity.


The integrity pledge included ▲ creating a trusted public service culture by eradicating improper solicitations, ▲ prohibition of accepting money and entertainment, ▲ compliance with reporting and avoiding conflicts of interest such as private interests, ▲ prohibition of illegal or unjust work instructions, and ▲ breaking unreasonable customs.


The Cheongnyeom Han Fire Leaders Group will be officially operated starting with this pledge meeting and plans to hold regular quarterly meetings and ad hoc meetings to prepare effective integrity policies through analysis of corruption vulnerability factors and discussion of improvement measures within the National Fire Agency.


Additionally, Kim Hyogwang, CEO of the Integrity and Human Rights Management Research Institute and a professional instructor on integrity at the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, was invited as a lecturer to conduct integrity education under the theme of “Anti-Corruption & Integrity UP, Creating an Integrity Organizational Culture” and provided customized integrity consulting (counseling), which received positive responses from attendees.


Nam Hwayeong, Acting Commissioner of the National Fire Agency, said, “As the head of the Cheongnyeom Han Fire Leaders Group, I will strive to develop into a fire organization that is more trusted by all citizens.” He added, “We will do our best to spread an integrity culture within the organization through various initiatives such as the Integrity UP Challenge, Integrity Self-Diagnosis Day, Mutual Respect Day without Power Abuse, and Integrity Quiz Competition.”
