Kim Yong-tae: "If Ahn Cheol-soo is stigmatized, Yoon's approval rating will drop"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Yong-tae, former Youth Supreme Council member of the People Power Party who ran for Supreme Council member in this ruling party convention, raised his voice saying, "If the Yoon Core Group (Yoon Seok-yeol's key associates) stigmatizes former lawmaker Na Kyung-won and then stigmatizes lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo, President Yoon's approval rating for state affairs could decline further."

Former Youth Supreme Council member Kim said on the 3rd on CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "It seems as if they are receiving orders, as the Yoon Core Group members all simultaneously stepped forward to attack lawmaker Ahn with stigmatization again," expressing this view.

He warned, "Those called the Yoon Core Group should know this," adding, "When I visit regions, many citizens and party members say they really dislike the Yoon Core Group. They simply say they dislike them."

He continued, "I hope they recognize that many citizens and party members are dissatisfied with the current situation where those people block the president's eyes and ears, flatter and fawn around him," and said, "If the Yoon Core Group again stigmatizes former lawmaker Na and lawmaker Ahn, paradoxically, I think lawmaker Kim Ki-hyun's approval rating and the president's approval rating for state affairs could decline further."

Former Youth Supreme Council member Kim is forming a 'pro-Lee Jun-seok faction' joint lineup with former Suncheon Party Committee Chairman Cheon Ha-ram, lawmaker Heo Eun-ah, and Gyeonggi Province assemblyman Lee Ki-in in this party convention. Regarding this, the dominant evaluation is that the pro-Yoon faction will not exert significant influence. Lawmaker Park Soo-young, classified as 'pro-Yoon,' also suggested that Chairman Cheon will only record 2-3% support.

In response, former Youth Supreme Council member Kim said, "I think that is his wish," adding, "At least, because some people misjudge the situation and only express such wishes, and because those people are around the president as the Yoon Core Group or their advocates, I feel a great regret that the current approval rating for state affairs is at this level as a result."
