[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 3rd that it has posted the announcement for the '2023 Academic Year 1st Elementary, Middle, and High School Equivalency Examination' and will accept application forms from the 13th to the 17th.

Application forms for the equivalency exam can be submitted in person at the gymnasium of Seoul Technical High School located in Dongjak-gu. For those showing COVID-19 symptoms or confirmed cases who cannot submit in person, online submission is the standard procedure.
For online submission, applicants can use the 'NEIS Equivalency Exam Service (http://kged.sen.go.kr)'. However, online applications are only accepted from the 13th until 6 PM on the 16th.
Additionally, applicants with foreign academic credentials must submit their applications in person. If they submit online due to COVID-19 symptoms or related reasons, they must send the original documents by registered mail to the Lifelong Education Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (postmarked by the 17th) to be recognized.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education operates a 'Support Desk for Disabled Examinees' within the application submission site, providing guidance on △ nearby test centers △ assistance in filling out the 'Application for Disability Accommodations' for services such as reading assistance, scribing, and enlarged test papers △ and a 'Visiting Equivalency Exam' service for severely disabled individuals.
The 2023 1st Equivalency Examination allows COVID-19 confirmed patients to take the exam. Details regarding the participation of confirmed patients can be found on the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education website under the '2023 1st Equivalency Exam Examinee Precautions Notice.'
The exam will be held on April 8, and pass/fail results can be checked on May 9 via the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education website.

To prevent COVID-19 infection and spread, the application submission site will enforce thorough quarantine management, including disinfection, strengthened entry control, and provision of sanitation supplies.
A representative from the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education urged, “We ask applicants to refrain from in-person submissions as much as possible and to use the online submission system, which is available 24 hours and requires the applicant’s own joint authentication certificate.”
