Sacheon City Delivers Hometown Love Donations to Sister and Exchange Cities

Mayor Park Dongsik Donates to Uiryeong County and Four Other Cities and Counties

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Park Dong-sik, mayor of Sacheon, announced on the 4th that he donated hometown love contributions to sister and exchange cities to promote the activation of the Hometown Love Donation System and to spread the atmosphere of residents' participation.

On this day, Mayor Park donated 100,000 won each to a total of 500,000 won to five cities and counties: Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk, Uiryeong County in Gyeongnam, Namyangju City and Yongin City in Gyeonggi, and Goryeong County in Gyeongbuk.

In particular, Mayor Park plans to select the thank-you gifts, which are provided at 30% of the donation amount, as representative specialties of the sister and exchange cities and donate them to vulnerable groups such as social welfare facilities in the jurisdiction.

Sacheon City expects that the stable settlement of the Hometown Love Donation System will not only promote the local economic vitality of sister and exchange cities that have been striving for mutual development but also strengthen exchange cooperation.

Mayor Park said, "I am pleased to make a donation for the development of sister and exchange cities," and added, "I hope the successful settlement of the Hometown Love Donation System and the ties with sister and exchange cities will be further strengthened."

He also said, "The Hometown Love Donation System is a good system that can create a sound donation culture, expand local finances, and establish a foundation for revitalizing the local economy," and urged, "I hope expatriates from all over the country actively participate so that it can become a driving force for the development of Sacheon City."

Implemented for the first time this year, the Hometown Love Donation System allows individuals to donate to all local governments nationwide except their current address, within an annual limit of 5 million won per person.
