Estimated Korean Food Variety Show
Local Media: "You Might Get to Try Bibimbap and Pajeon"
A Baekbanjip (Korean set meal restaurant) suddenly appeared in Naples, southern Italy, without any opening promotion, drawing attention.
Italian media 'Fanpage' introduced on the 30th of last month (local time) that a Korean restaurant unexpectedly opened in the place where a historic restaurant in Naples once stood, according to Yonhap News on the 1st.
The newly opened Korean restaurant was decorated inside with modern tables and vintage lighting, and under the Korean signboard 'Baekbanjip,' the Italian words for 'Korean restaurant' were written.
The Korean restaurant, which opened suddenly without any opening event, is arousing curiosity among locals.
The location itself is unique. This place was originally home to 'Da Ettore,' a traditional Neapolitan cuisine restaurant that had been operating for over 80 years on the Santa Lucia coastal street.
It is hard to understand how such a historic restaurant disappeared overnight, and also how a Korean restaurant opening for the first time in Naples could open without any promotion. It is known that even street food vendors in Naples actively promote when they open these days.
However, the media explained that if you look closely at the newly opened Korean restaurant, your curiosity will be resolved.
The menu board photographed by this media had Korean writings such as 'Baek Jong-won,' 'Girls' Generation Yuri,' 'Naengmyeon John Park,' 'Udon Shop Lee Jang-woo,' '☆ Please come in ^^,' 'Korean food,' and 'Thank you ^^.'
In Italian, it said 'TRATTORIA COREANA' (small Korean restaurant), 'APERTO PER UNA SETTIMANA' (open for one week), 'CIBO COREANO AUTENTICO' (authentic Korean food), and 'BENVENUTI' (welcome).
'Fanpage' said, "It is reported to be related to a Korean food-related broadcasting program," and added, "Naples, a city with a strong food culture identity, was selected as a city to test 'Made in Korea' food."
They added, "Here, you will be able to try bibimbap and pajeon."
In summary, it appears that a variety show format where a small Korean restaurant is opened and operated abroad is being filmed in Naples, featuring Baek Jong-won, Yuri, John Park, Lee Jang-woo, and others.
A famous program with a similar format is tvN's 'Youn's Kitchen.'
The first season of 'Youn's Kitchen' was filmed on a nearby island of Bali, Indonesia, and 'Youn's Kitchen 2' opened a Korean restaurant in a small village on Tenerife Island, Spain, showing Youn Yeo-jeong, Lee Seo-jin, Jung Yu-mi, and Park Seo-joon bustling around in a charming yet sophisticated way, achieving the highest ratings in tvN's history of variety shows.
