[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Following the extension of the shelf life of the Pfizer COVID-19 monovalent vaccine, primary vaccinations using this vaccine will be conducted until the end of July. Those who have not received the primary vaccinations (1st and 2nd doses) can make reservations for the first dose until June 5.
The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team announced on the 2nd that, with the extension of the Pfizer vaccine's shelf life to 18 months, primary vaccinations for those aged 12 and older using the stock on hand will be maintained until July 31.
However, considering vaccination demand and supply plans, there are no plans to procure additional monovalent vaccines. Furthermore, the use of the updated bivalent vaccine for primary vaccinations will also be reviewed. Additional vaccinations in the winter season can be administered if the primary vaccinations are completed, with priority recommendation given to the mRNA bivalent vaccine.
Meanwhile, the Vaccination Injury Compensation Expert Committee reviewed 1,025 new cases of compensation claims filed due to adverse reactions after vaccination and recognized causality in 102 cases (10%), deciding to provide compensation.
