Spokesperson Position Vacant Since September Last Year
Senior Secretary Kim Eun-hye Overburdened with 'Dual Roles'
Lee Do-woon Served as Spokesperson in Ban Ki-moon's 2017 Campaign Team
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] It was reported on the 2nd that Lee Do-woon, editorial writer of Munhwa Ilbo, is being strongly considered as the new spokesperson for the Presidential Office.
According to the ruling party, the Presidential Office is conducting final verification work related to the spokesperson appointment. The position of spokesperson for the Presidential Office has been vacant since September last year, when former spokesperson Kang In-seon moved to the role of Overseas Public Relations Secretary and Foreign Press Spokesperson.
Currently, Chief Public Relations Officer Kim Eun-hye is performing dual roles, including that of spokesperson, resulting in an excessive workload.
Since Lee recently reportedly submitted his resignation to the newspaper, there are expectations that he will be appointed spokesperson soon.
Lee graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Political Science and Diplomacy, joined Seoul Shinmun in 1990, and served as political chief and then deputy director.
In 2017, he joined the campaign of former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as spokesperson. After Ban gave up his presidential bid, Lee moved to Munhwa Ilbo and worked as an editorial writer.
