Jang Je-won "Will Not Hold Appointed Party Positions in Next Party Leadership"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Jang Je-won, a member of the People Power Party who has been rumored to be allied with Representative Kim Ki-hyun under the name 'Kimjang Alliance (Kim Ki-hyun-Jang Je-won),' has categorically denied the speculation that he would be appointed as Secretary-General in the next party leadership, stating, "I will not take any appointed party position in the next party leadership."

On the 2nd, Jang posted on his social media (SNS), "Some candidates are spreading rumors about Jang Je-won becoming Secretary-General and engaging in political slander," and made this statement.

He clarified and dismissed the rumor that if Representative Kim Ki-hyun becomes the party leader, Jang would control the party as Secretary-General. He said, "During the party convention phase, there are worrying incidents such as rampant mudslinging (black propaganda). Some are even trying to brand me as someone who distorts the president's intentions for their own political gain," adding, "This political reality is truly deplorable."

Although he did not specify who was behind the distortion, considering reports that he warned against rampant mudslinging during a phone call with former Representative Kim Young-woo, the election committee chairman of Ahn Cheol-soo’s camp, it is interpreted as targeting Ahn’s side.

Jang said, "I have only thought about and acted according to what I must do for the success of President Yoon Seok-yeol, and I will continue to do so. During the five years of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, there will be no personal politics by Jang Je-won. I will devote myself selflessly to the success of President Yoon Seok-yeol."
