Mass Selection in Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Public Contest
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is gaining momentum in creating high added value in rural areas as it has been largely selected in the 2023 Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Rural Convergence Industry field contest.
According to the province on the 2nd, among the three nationwide sites recruited for the ‘District Formation Project’ field, two sites including Gokseong and Jangheung were selected, and Gwangyang was selected among the three nationwide sites in the ‘Regional Network Establishment Project’ field.
The Rural Convergence Industry District Formation Project is a project that aims to create added value and jobs by linking the secondary industry of agricultural product manufacturing and processing with the tertiary industry of distribution, experience, and tourism using regionally specialized resources.
A total project cost of 3 billion KRW, including 1.5 billion KRW in national funds over four years per site, is supported.
Gokseong-gun, selected for the district formation project, will promote ▲ development of processed products and experience/tourism programs using the regionally specialized item taro ▲ Gokseong Taro Doran Village Festival ▲ establishment of a convergence center.
Jangheung-gun will utilize Korean beef to promote ▲ upgrading of Korean beef processing infrastructure ▲ development of experience and tourism content ▲ support for youth startups ▲ creation of an experience and tourism convergence industry hall.
The Regional Network Establishment Project is a project that supports the formation and operation of networks centered on convergence-certified businesses to promote the development of the rural convergence industry ecosystem.
A total project cost of 200 million KRW, including 100 million KRW in national funds over two years per site, is supported.
Gwangyang-si, selected for the network project, will form a council centered on the rural convergence certified business Gwangyang Bread to promote ▲ processed product consulting ▲ activation of joint marketing ▲ development of experience and tourism linked programs.
Kang Hyoseok, Director of the Agriculture, Livestock and Food Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “Through the Rural Convergence Industry District Formation Project and the Regional Network Establishment Project, it is expected to create high added value by combining processing of regionally specialized resources with experience and tourism, contributing to revitalizing the local economy.”
So far in Jeonnam, seven sites including Yeonggwang Chalbori, Goheung Yuja, and Suncheon Maesil districts have been designated and operated, achieving results such as an increase of 12 billion KRW in sales of specialized resources and the creation of 246 jobs after designation.
