The Gwangju Metropolitan Council announced on the 2nd that it signed a business agreement with the Governance Center Corporation.
Both organizations will collaborate on joint research for the development of local autonomy and education to strengthen governance capabilities.
They also plan to work together to discover and disseminate excellent cases of regional innovation in governance and to strengthen decentralization.
The Governance Center was launched in 2003 with the founding of the Public-Private Cooperation Forum and is a specialized solution institution leading governance research and regional innovation by establishing nationwide public-private partnerships.
Vice Chairman Shim Cheol-ui said, “With the revision of the Local Autonomy Act, local councils are being required to play a more active role in realizing resident-centered local autonomy,” adding, “Through this agreement, we will strive to open a new era of decentralization where diversity is respected through research and educational cooperation for the development of local autonomy.”
