Busan Office of Education to Establish Special School in Eco Delta City

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The plan to establish the (tentative name) Eco Special School, a current project of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, has passed the Ministry of Education's Central Investment Review.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 2nd that the establishment of the Eco Special School was approved at the Ministry of Education's 2023 regular 1st Central Investment Review held on the 30th of last month.

Accordingly, the Office of Education will invest 55.4 billion KRW to establish a special school on a site of 14,757㎡ at 4638 Gangdong-dong, Gangseo-gu, with one basement floor and four above-ground floors.

The (tentative name) Eco Special School will have a total of 31 classes and 190 students, including 3 kindergarten classes, 12 elementary school classes, 6 middle school classes, 6 high school classes, and 4 vocational classes, and is scheduled to open on March 1, 2026.

This school will open as a mutually empathetic special school equipped with a ‘life-stage tailored special education’ program from infancy to adulthood, an ‘eco-friendly ecological education curriculum’ utilizing the migratory bird protection ecological wetland park, park green spaces, and waterfront ecological urban environment of Eco Delta City, as well as a complex cultural space for residents.

In particular, the establishment of this school is expected to contribute to meeting the demand for special education students in Eco Delta City and the 2nd phase of Myeongji International New City, as well as alleviating overcrowded classes in nearby special schools.
