[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party known as the 'Yunsim (尹心)' candidate, criticized Ahn Cheol-soo, who is competing with him for party leadership, as a 'Yunsim advocate' and suggested that his relationship with Yongsan may not be smooth.
On the 2nd, Kim appeared on SBS's 'Kim Tae-hyun's News Show' and said, "I suddenly feel like a 'Yunsim advocate' has appeared. I hope the president is not dragged into such matters and that you compete using your own product."
This was aimed at Ahn's side emphasizing the split of the 'Kim Jang Alliance (Kim Ki-hyun-Jang Je-won)' and Ahn himself mentioning the Yunan Alliance (Yoon Seok-yeol-Ahn Cheol-soo), saying "Yunsim may not be factual." Kim said, "I want to say let's compete with the product called Ahn Cheol-soo and the product called Kim Ki-hyun," adding, "I hope you become more confident now."
He also hinted that Ahn's relationship with Yongsan might not be smooth by referring to Ahn's time as the head of the transition committee. He said, "I am not in a position to fully convey the president's thoughts, but I have never seen a situation where the head of the presidential transition committee runs away," adding, "When he was the head of the presidential transition committee, the people he recommended were not appointed to key positions, probably not even as ministers. Then he disappeared."
This refers to the incident on April 14 last year when Ahn, serving as the head of the transition committee, canceled all official schedules and went missing due to dissatisfaction with the cabinet appointments, only to return following a dinner meeting with then President-elect Yoon.
Kim said, "In such a serious position where you have to present a vision for the next five years of national governance, if you act like that, I wonder if the president can truly trust you," and criticized, "The party leader should not behave in such a manner."
Regarding Chun Ha-ram, the Suncheon Gap district party committee chairman classified as part of the 'Lee Jun-seok faction,' running for party leader in the party convention, Kim said, "It is desirable for various talents to appear evenly and compete fiercely, but it is also important for them to compete fairly for the health of the party. That is what I think."
