Agreement to Strengthen Exchange Cooperation with Jeju-do
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul City announced on the 2nd that it will sign the 'Seoul Metropolitan Government-Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Exchange Enhancement Memorandum of Understanding' tomorrow at the Jeju Provincial Office main conference room (Tamna Hall).
Through this agreement, Seoul and Jeju will mutually cooperate in seven areas including tourism, culture, and transportation exchanges. First, Mayor Oh Se-hoon will actively participate in promoting the Hometown Love Donation system through the Jeju Hometown Love Donation, and will cooperate in mutual promotion of the Hometown Love Donation system between Seoul and Jeju in the future.
The two local governments will operate the university student regional coexistence tourism promotion group 'Tripmate' fam tours for regional exchange projects in the tourism sector, support the development and promotional marketing of Seoul-Jeju linked travel products, and conduct cross-promotion using various channels of both cities and provinces.
They will also actively cooperate to revitalize youth policies. Both cities and provinces plan to share current youth policy cases and achievements to jointly improve the quality of life for young people. Furthermore, exchanges between youth participation organizations and youth groups will be activated to provide a platform for multifaceted discussions on youth policies.
In addition, regarding the future mobility urban air mobility (UAM) project, the two local governments will join forces in government cooperation related to legislation and demonstration by forming a joint dedicated task force (TF) for commercialization.
Moreover, Seoul and Jeju plan to strengthen exchanges in various fields, such as operating direct transaction markets between Jeju producers and Seoul consumers using Seoul’s urban plazas and parks, and continuously supplying Jeju’s eco-friendly agricultural products to Seoul’s eco-friendly distribution center for school meals, thereby promoting coexistence between urban and rural areas.
Meanwhile, after signing the agreement, Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Governor Oh Young-hoon will move to the lawn plaza of Hallasan Botanical Garden to plant commemorative trees symbolizing the exchange and cooperation between the two local governments.
- They will plant a ginkgo tree symbolizing Seoul and a camphor tree symbolizing Jeju, wishing for continuous exchange and cooperation between Seoul and Jeju as the trees grow each year.
