According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, the fire that started from burning trash spread to a nearby mountain and was initially extinguished around 3:51 p.m., but flared up again around 6:40 p.m.
The large fire was brought under control around 8:36 p.m. by the deployed firefighters and was completely extinguished by 9:30 p.m.
According to the fire authorities, 1.5 hectares of forestland were destroyed by the fire, but there were no casualties.
The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of property damage based on residents' statements that the fire from burning trash spread to the hillside.
