[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On Thursday the 2nd, the morning temperature will drop significantly and the wind will be strong, making it very chilly.
From the night of the 1st, cold air will move southward, and the lowest morning temperature on the 2nd is forecasted to be -12 to -1 degrees Celsius, 5 to 10 degrees lower than today. In the northern and eastern parts of Gyeonggi Province and the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, the morning temperature will fall below -10 degrees, and in other regions, it will drop to around -5 degrees.
The lowest morning temperatures in major areas are Seoul -6°C, Incheon -6°C, Suwon -6°C, Chuncheon -10°C, Gangneung -4°C, Cheongju -5°C, Daejeon -6°C, Hongseong -6°C, Jeonju -4°C, Andong -7°C, Daegu -3°C, Ulsan -2°C, Gwangju -3°C, Yeosu -1°C, Changwon -2°C, Busan -1°C, and Jeju 2°C.
The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a cold wave warning at 9 p.m. on this day for the northeastern part of Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Province, the northeastern part of Jeonbuk Province, and some inland areas of Chungbuk and Gyeongbuk. The KMA advised, "Please take special care of your health due to the rapid temperature changes, check the insulation status of water meters, exposed water pipes, boilers, etc., and prepare for freezing damage."
The entire country will be mostly clear but clouds will gradually increase. Fine dust levels will be 'Good' to 'Moderate' across all regions due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.
Sea waves will range from 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the coastal waters of the East Sea, West Sea, and South Sea. Storm warnings are currently in effect for most offshore areas and the western coastal waters of Jeju Island. Winds will blow very strongly at 10 to 16 meters per second until the 2nd, and waves will be very high at 1.5 to 4.0 meters. On the East Coast, swells will cause high waves to overflow rocks and breakwaters, so caution is required for coastal safety and facility management.
