[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Kia announced on the 1st that it sold a total of 232,437 units in the global market in January, including 38,678 units domestically, 193,456 units overseas, and 303 special vehicles, marking a 9.0% increase compared to the same period last year.
This represents a 4.8% increase domestically and a 9.9% increase overseas compared to the same period last year.
By model, the Sportage was the best-selling vehicle in the global market with 32,521 units sold. The Seltos followed with 27,075 units, and the Sorento with 16,386 units.
In January, 38,678 units were sold domestically, a 4.8% increase compared to the same month last year. The best-selling vehicle was the Carnival with 6,904 units.
Passenger cars sold a total of 12,903 units, including 3,585 units of the Ray, 3,451 units of the K8, 2,560 units of the K5, and 1,813 units of the Morning.
RVs, including the Carnival, sold a total of 22,124 units, with 5,492 units of the Sportage, 4,611 units of the Sorento, and 3,366 units of the Seltos.
Commercial vehicles sold a total of 3,651 units, including 3,580 units of the Bongo III and buses.
Overseas sales recorded 193,456 units, a 9.9% increase compared to the same month last year.
By model overseas, the Sportage was the top-selling model with 27,029 units sold. The Seltos followed with 23,709 units, and the K3 (Forte) with 14,865 units.
A Kia official stated, “The semiconductor parts supply disruption is gradually easing, and supply expansion continues with increased production volume. This year, we will continue to improve profitability through quantitative growth, the launch of competitive new models and upgraded models, expansion of eco-friendly vehicle sales, and solid sales strategies.”
