[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 1st that it is taking the lead in water-saving practice campaigns through public-private cooperation.
On the 27th, Dong-gu held the "5th Situation Report Meeting on Water-Saving Practices in Daily Life to Overcome Drought," chaired by the Deputy District Mayor, and employees are actively participating by submitting certification photos of practices such as adjusting the water meter pressure and sink valve at their homes.
In addition, Dong-gu plans to support the activities of the Resident Practice Group linked to the Resident Participation Point Collection System to encourage active resident participation through collaboration among departments, including field tours of Dongbok Dam.
The district decided to provide incentives when promoting facility improvement projects for aging apartments targeting apartment complexes excelling in water-saving practices.
Furthermore, a "Mulkeurami Resident Practice Group," composed of experts, community leaders, and public officials from 13 neighborhoods, has been formed to visit households requesting water pressure adjustment and conduct campaigns to encourage water pressure reduction.
Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "Currently, the water storage rate of the Dongbok Dam water source is below 25%, and it is expected that water supply restrictions and cutoffs will be unavoidable in the first half of this year," adding, "I hope that not only public officials but also all residents will cooperate and actively participate in water-saving practices in daily life to overcome the drought."
