[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Korea GM announced on the 1st that it sold 16,251 units (complete vehicles) in January, a 25.9% increase compared to the same month last year. This marks the seventh consecutive month of year-on-year sales growth.
Korea GM's overseas sales in January recorded 15,230 units, a 31.7% increase compared to the same month last year. With this, Korea GM has achieved year-on-year growth in overseas markets for 10 consecutive months. In particular, the Chevrolet Trailblazer, along with the Buick Encore GX sharing the same vehicle platform, sold 15,182 units, showing a 167.0% increase compared to the same month last year.
In the domestic market, Chevrolet Traverse sales increased by 220% compared to the same month last year. The Chevrolet Traverse continues to enjoy steady popularity in the imported large SUV market with its overwhelming body size and best-in-class power performance.
This year, Korea GM plans to strengthen its multi-brand strategy by introducing the new GMC brand and launch six vehicles, including 'Ultium'-based electric vehicles.
Carlos Minert, Vice President of Sales and Service at GM Korea Operations, said, "With the domestic launch of the next-generation global new product 'Trax Crossover' scheduled for the first quarter, we will further strengthen GM's position in the domestic market based on competitive products."
