[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Korean Medical Association announced on the 1st that it will hold a welcoming ceremony and orientation for 'new doctors' who obtained their licenses this year.
The event, held three times on the 7th, 10th, and 11th, is designed to support the new doctors' first steps and provide them with the knowledge and information necessary for their medical careers.
The program includes an overview of the Korean Medical Association, lectures on medical-related systems and laws, and sharing of various medical field experiences from experts and senior doctors in each specialty.
Lee Pil-soo, president of the Korean Medical Association, said, "New doctors are prospective members of the association and the next generation leaders of the medical community," adding, "I hope this will be a meaningful time to remind them of the authority and value of the medical license, and to reflect on their functions and roles as doctors, as well as their social responsibilities as professionals."
Meanwhile, in this year's medical licensing exam, 94.7% of the candidates passed, producing 3,181 new doctors.
