Golf Grip 'Selection and Maintenance'... "Remember This"

Carefully Check Grip Weight, Thickness, and Material
Replace Immediately If It Is Hard or Slippery

The grip is the handle of a golf club. It is the only point that connects the body to the golf club. It is that important in golf. Fitting is not limited to just the golf club itself. To achieve good results, you need to equip a grip that allows for a stable shot. Here are some points to consider when choosing a grip.

Golf Grip 'Selection and Maintenance'... "Remember This" It is 'SuperStroke,' the grip with the number one market share among tour players, acquired by the domestic company VC.

Each golfer's hand size and shape are different. You need to find a grip that fits your hand perfectly. Grip thickness is categorized into undersize, standard, midsize, and jumbo sizes. The most common is the standard size. The optimal thickness is when, with the grip attached to the shaft, you hold it with your left hand and your middle and ring fingers barely touch the palm near the thumb. If the grip is too thin, it can cause a hook shot; if too thick, it can cause a slice.

Generally, if you wear a size 23 glove, a 0.60-inch grip size is appropriate. These days, thicker grips are in fashion. A larger gripping surface reduces unnecessary wrist movement, which is effective in short putting. However, compared to thinner grips, the feel is reduced. Golfers who frequently make long putts or prioritize putting feel should opt for the standard thickness.

Grips are made from materials such as rubber, core, and elastomer. Rubber is the most popular. It is inexpensive and soft. However, it is vulnerable to sweat and has a short lifespan. Golfers who sweat a lot and have fast swing speeds should choose core grips. Core and elastomer grips tend to be somewhat more expensive.

Grip weights range from the 10g range up to the 60g range. Changing the grip weight can alter the overall club weight and swing weight. A heavier grip lowers the swing weight, while a lighter grip raises it. While thickness, material, and texture should be checked, the most important factor is weight.

Grips do not last very long. It is recommended to replace them after about 1 year and 6 months to 2 years of use. Professional players replace their grips in less than a year. If grips are not properly maintained, they negatively affect the swing. The hardening process accelerates. If heavily soiled, lightly clean with a brush using soapy water and dry in the shade. If the grip becomes hard or slippery, you tend to hold it tightly, which can cause hooks and reduce distance. In such cases, replace with a new one. The weight and thickness must be the same. Even a slight 1g change can disrupt the optimal combination of the head, shaft, and grip at the time of release.

If you want to refresh your clubs after long use, switching to colorful grips is also an option. Try changing to black, gray, or white. Installing dual-color grips is also an idea. It can look fresh. Even just adjusting the grip can improve your swing. It looks stylish and boosts confidence on the course.
