Presidential Office Responds "Appropriate Response" to People's Solidarity for Criticism of Kim Eui-gyeom's Accusation

Presidential Office: "Must Respond Directly for National Interest and Right to Know"
"Legal Response to Kim Jung-sook of Moon Administration Handled by Blue House"
"People's Solidarity Should Raise Issues Starting with Moon Blue House"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 1st, the Presidential Office rebutted the People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy, which raised suspicions that "the submission of a complaint by the Presidential Secretariat can be seen as the use of public resources to protect the private interests of the President's family," stating that "this is clearly different from the facts."

The Presidential Office spokesperson's office stated in a press notice to reporters that morning, "The spread of groundless false information about the President and his family undermines the nation's diplomatic dignity and weakens the momentum of state affairs, directly affecting the public interest," and added, "It is natural for the Presidential Secretariat to respond directly for the people's right to know and national interest."

The spokesperson's office particularly emphasized, "The recent complaint is a typical 'fake news' created by selectively piecing together some parts of a third party's trial, presented out of context by a specific media outlet and Kim Ui-gyeom, the spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Korea," and added, "It is not an incident with any substance that occurred in the past. Before becoming the President's spouse, no one had ever reported any damage or even raised suspicions."

They further explained, "If the President and his family have to respond directly to one-sided false allegations made for political purposes, state affairs will be paralyzed, and the damage will inevitably fall on the people."

They also introduced a case where the Presidential Secretariat of the previous Moon Jae-in administration directly responded to suspicions related to Mrs. Kim Jung-sook.

The spokesperson's office pointed out, "Regarding media criticism such as 'Mrs. Kim Jung-sook's solo visit to the Taj Mahal' and 'personal swimming lessons for security guards,' the Presidential Secretariat and the Security Office of the Moon Jae-in administration took legal actions such as requesting corrections," and added, "At that time, the People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy did not raise any issues and remained silent."

They then stated, "If the People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy is not biased toward a particular political faction, they should first address the legal responses made by the Presidential Secretariat at that time against criticism of Mrs. Kim Jung-sook before raising any issues."

Regarding the People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy's information disclosure request, they mentioned, "The Presidential Office will respond appropriately within the scope of the law and principles."
