[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will double the energy voucher support amount for the winter of 2022 to assist vulnerable groups with heating costs.

The additional increase in the energy voucher amount for this winter will be applied temporarily only for this winter, with 248,200 KRW for a single-person household, 334,800 KRW for a two-person household, 445,400 KRW for a three-person household, and 583,600 KRW for households of four or more, doubling the previous support amount. The increased amount can be used from February 8 to April 30 without a separate reapplication.

Applicants must be recipients of livelihood, medical, housing, or education benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act (housing and education benefit recipients are eligible only for 2022 temporarily) and must have themselves or a household member who is elderly, an infant, disabled, pregnant, suffering from a severe disease, rare disease, intractable disease, a single-parent family, or a child from a youth family (including children under foster care).

Applications for the 2022 energy voucher program can be submitted by visiting the administrative welfare center in the applicant’s registered residential town or township by February 28, 2023, or online through the Bokjiro website.

Applications cannot be made simultaneously for other separate support programs such as kerosene vouchers or briquette vouchers.

A Boseong-gun official stated, “We will actively guide vulnerable groups struggling with soaring energy prices to quickly use the increased energy voucher amount.” He added, “We will actively promote so that all eligible households can apply without omission during the extended application period until February 28.”

The county has been conducting various energy-related support projects to improve energy welfare for vulnerable groups, currently supporting 1,365 households with energy vouchers, 30 households with kerosene vouchers, and 151 households with briquette vouchers.

Meanwhile, the energy voucher program is a system that supports energy-vulnerable groups in purchasing electricity, city gas, district heating, kerosene, LPG, and briquettes, with support provided either by deducting fees through bills or via the National Happiness Card.
