Bucheon City Lifts Illegal Parking Enforcement Suspension on All Sections Starting March

Change of Enforcement Hours to Pre-COVID-19 Period

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 1st that it will return the enforcement hours for illegal parking and stopping, which were temporarily shortened to revitalize the local economy stagnated by COVID-19, to the pre-COVID-19 normal operation.

Since March 2020, the city has implemented a temporary suspension of illegal parking enforcement, and in July last year, it lifted the suspension in 53 locations, including areas with severe traffic congestion and Gyeongin National Road, for citizens' safety and smooth vehicle traffic.

Starting from the 2nd of next month, the city will lift the suspension on all sections within Bucheon and resume normal enforcement of illegal parking and stopping.

The enforcement hours are weekdays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. (in elementary school zones, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), weekends and public holidays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a suspension of enforcement during lunchtime from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

However, in the case of the eight prohibited zones under the resident reporting system, such as school zones, fire hydrants, intersection corners, and crosswalks, citizens can report violations through the Safe Report app, and enforcement can occur within one minute, so caution is required.

Meanwhile, Bucheon City has been operating a text message service (SMS) since 2017 that sends messages to vehicle drivers to encourage vehicle movement for the prevention of illegal parking in advance.

The city plans to introduce an advanced pre-notification system with an added automatic response system (ARS) voice function as early as March.
