Middle and High Schools: 2nd to 7th of This Month - Elementary Schools: 20th to 23rd
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 1st that it will operate a concentrated application period for the 2023 school year entrance preparation fund and accept applications for the entrance preparation fund.
The concentrated application period is from the 2nd to the 7th for middle and high schools, and from the 20th to the 23rd for elementary schools. Applications can be submitted through the Office of Education's entrance preparation fund application system (http://start.sen.go.kr), which opens at 9 a.m. on the 2nd.
Applicants will receive the entrance preparation fund after the verification of eligible students by each school. Middle and high school students will receive the fund in February, and elementary school students in March. Parents and students who miss the application during this concentrated period can apply additionally according to separate guidance in March.
The entrance preparation fund support targets first-year new students in national, public, and private elementary, middle, and high schools (including various and special schools). Elementary school students will receive 200,000 KRW per person as mobile points (Zero Pay), and middle and high school students will receive 300,000 KRW per person either for uniform fees or as mobile points (Zero Pay). The mobile points can be used to purchase items necessary for school entrance preparation such as clothing (including uniforms), bags, shoes, books and stationery, glasses, and electronic devices.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education introduced the online application system for the entrance preparation fund last year and plans to continuously maintain and manage the system to ensure smooth operation this year as well. Furthermore, it plans to operate the entrance preparation fund support policy effectively to strengthen the public nature of education by reducing parents' educational expenses burden.
