Korean Prime Minister Urges "All Equipment and Personnel Mobilized to Extinguish Daegu Factory Fire"

Prime Minister Han Deok-su Orders "Do Your Best to Prevent Further Damage" in Daegu Textile Factory Fire

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Prime Minister Han Duck-soo urged the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the fire authorities to prevent the spread of damage related to the textile factory fire that occurred in Daegu on the 1st.


Prime Minister Han conveyed, "The Minister of the Interior and Safety, the Commissioner of the National Fire Agency, the Commissioner of the National Police Agency, and the Mayor of Daegu should mobilize all available equipment and personnel to do their best to suppress the fire and prevent additional damage." He added, "Take measures to ensure that there is no secondary damage to residents due to the fire, and if necessary, cooperate with local governments to evacuate residents and take other actions."

Prime Minister Han especially instructed the Commissioner of the National Fire Agency to "ensure the utmost safety of fire officials, including fire suppression personnel active on site."

At around 6:50 a.m. that day, a fire broke out at a textile factory in Seongseo Industrial Complex, Igok-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu. The fire authorities issued a Level 1 response at around 7:05 a.m., then escalated it to Level 2 at around 7:29 a.m. and are currently extinguishing the fire.
