In particular, on the afternoon of the 31st, Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, directly visited local senior centers to inspect the sites and listen to difficulties, urging attention to the health management of the elderly.
He then visited the homes of vulnerable elderly living alone to carefully check their health and listen to their grievances.
The district is implementing timely support measures in preparation for the sharp rise in heating costs, including providing 100,000 won to energy-vulnerable groups, expanding heating cost support for senior centers and daycare centers, and broadening the eligibility for energy vouchers. A comprehensive cold wave countermeasure is also being promoted to prevent emergencies related to the cold wave.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “The recent cold wave and rising heating costs are causing serious concerns about the health of vulnerable groups. We will do our utmost to ensure that all residents can spend a warm winter.”
Eunpyeong-gu Emerges as a Cradle of the World-renowned Children's Film Festival
Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 31st that it has signed a ‘Seoul International Children's Film Festival Support Agreement.’
This agreement between Eunpyeong-gu and the Seoul International Children's Film Festival Association aims to support the successful hosting of the 11th Seoul International Children's Film Festival and the development of children's films.
The signing ceremony was held with the attendance of Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, Kim Han-gi, Executive Director of the Seoul International Children's Film Festival Association, and other related parties from both sides.
The district is currently reviewing ways to support and link with the various cultural contents developed by the Seoul International Children's Film Festival Association to create synergistic effects. Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, attended the ‘2023 Mapo-gu Environmental Security Officers Integrated Launch Ceremony’ held at the Mapo-gu Office auditorium on the afternoon of the 31st.
At the launch ceremony, Mayor Park personally handed ID cards to 300 environmental security officers and urged their efforts to create a safe and clean Mapo.

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that at 10:30 a.m. on the 31st, the Dongdaemun-gu Kindergarten Association (President Kim Seung-hyun) donated 9,441,000 won in Warm Winter Campaign funds, reflecting the heartfelt wishes of local kindergarten children.
The donation ceremony was held in the mayor’s reception room on the 5th floor of Dongdaemun-gu Office, attended by Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, Kim Seung-hyun, President of the Kindergarten Association (Principal of Shindonga Kindergarten), Lee Hyun-ran, Principal of Saesori Kindergarten, and Kim Chang-sook, Principal of Geurim Kindergarten.
The total donation of 9,441,000 won was collected directly by the staff and children of 16 private kindergartens, making it especially meaningful.
Mayor Lee Pil-hyung said, “I thank the Dongdaemun-gu Kindergarten Association officials, children, and parents who gathered their hearts to help neighbors in need. The pure and warm hearts of the kindergarten children will bring comfort and hope to neighbors going through difficult times. The donated funds will be used where they are most needed.”
During the Warm Winter Campaign, large anonymous donation boxes placed in the lobby on the 1st floor of Dongdaemun-gu Office and small anonymous donation boxes placed in the civil service department and 14 community centers were collected, raising 1,097,770 won. These funds will be delivered to the Community Chest of Korea to be used for marginalized groups.
Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Meets with Parents’ Association for Disabled Persons... ‘Creating an Environment for Independence’

Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, met with parents of children with developmental disabilities on the 31st and said, “We will implement policies for the true independence of disabled persons, not just one-sided support.”
At a meeting with Jang Mi-ra, President of the Gangseo branch of the Seoul Parents’ Association for Disabled Persons, and other officials at 3 p.m. that day, Mayor Kim said, “By engaging in economic activities on their own, disabled persons can increase their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment, which will also expand opportunities for social participation.”
He added, “We will create an environment for independence rather than one-sided support. We will provide multifaceted support so that disabled persons can generate income through the ‘Gangseo Donghaeng’ YouTube channel operated directly by them.”
Lee Eun-ja, the founding president of the Parents’ Association for Disabled Persons, responded, “We have always been concerned about our children’s independence without relying on state assistance. We appreciate the good ideas that we had not thought of.”
Additionally, Mayor Kim said, “I will carefully examine unnecessary budget waste and leakage factors. The saved budget will be used for projects to promote the rights and interests of socially vulnerable groups such as disabled persons.”
Mayor Kim has emphasized communication to resolve inconveniences and remove barriers faced by disabled persons. In December last year, he visited all local independent living centers for disabled persons to review independent living programs and carefully check for any inconveniences experienced by users.
