Police Request Autopsy from National Forensic Service
[Asia Economy Reporters Jang Sehee and Hwang Seoyul] An incident occurred where a major shareholder of a KOSDAQ-listed company made an extreme choice.
On the 31st, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced that a man in his 50s, Mr. A, was found dead at his residence in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 27th. It is known that Mr. A had already passed away when the police arrived. The company specializes in new drug development and recently provided explanations to investors regarding a decline in its stock price.
So far, there is no suspicion of homicide, and a note presumed to indicate an extreme choice was found at the scene. An autopsy has been requested from the National Forensic Service.
The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office confirmed that it had investigated the company last October, suspecting a connection with businessman Kang Jonghyun (41), known as the actual owner of Bithumb.
A prosecutor stated, "Regarding the Kang case, the Southern District Prosecutors' Office has looked into Mr. A's corporation but has never summoned Mr. A as a witness for investigation."
