Construction of Bearing Technology Center in Yeongju, 21 Billion Won Invested, Completion in November

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province, is accelerating the expansion project of bearing and lightweight materials industry infrastructure to support companies moving into the ‘Yeongju Advanced Bearing National Industrial Complex.’


On the 31st, Yeongju City held the ‘Final Report Meeting on the Construction of the Bearing Manufacturing Technology Center and the Green Remodeling Design Service for the Lightweight Materials Convergence Technology Center’ at the City Hall First Conference Room.

The report meeting was attended by about 20 people, including Vice Mayor Song Ho-jun, Kim Jong-hyung, Director of the Bearing Testing and Evaluation Center, Kim Ki-young, Director of the Lightweight Materials Convergence Technology Center, related department heads, institutions, and service companies. The meeting proceeded with the final design proposal report and a Q&A session.


The ‘Bearing Manufacturing Technology Center’ is part of the bearing manufacturing support infrastructure project, which is being carried out from 2021 to 2025 with a total project cost of 21 billion KRW, including 10 billion KRW in national funding, and aims for completion in November this year.


The Bearing Manufacturing Technology Center will be equipped with 25 types of equipment to support the production of bearing prototypes and commercialization. Upon completion, a customized corporate support system will be established that can provide integrated support from design to performance evaluation and commercialization of bearing products in an optimal environment.


Additionally, the ‘Green Remodeling of the Lightweight Materials Convergence Technology Center’ is part of the ‘Lightweight Materials Surface Treatment Infrastructure Project,’ which is being carried out from 2021 to 2025 with a total project cost of 20 billion KRW, including 10 billion KRW in national funding.


Vice Mayor Song Ho-jun of Yeongju said, “Having completed the first phase of the infrastructure project, we will establish a strong infrastructure through this second phase expansion project. We will do our utmost to build corporate support infrastructure so that companies moving into the Yeongju Advanced Bearing National Industrial Complex can secure excellent technology and know-how, enhance global technological competitiveness, and settle and grow stably.”
