Busan Port Authority Launches Workplace Human Rights Protection Campaign

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Port Authority (BPA) is promoting a ‘Workplace Human Rights Protection Campaign’ to create a warm organizational culture through mutual respect and consideration among employees.

BPA plans to induce psychological stability by protecting and promoting the human rights of internal employees, and through this, respond warmly and kindly to external customers to realize customer-first management.

In addition, BPA will share the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s 10 major work innovation proposals again with all members of the company, conduct surveys on items that need activation, and go through internal feedback processes to contribute to the realization of a healthy organizational culture.

As of 2022, BPA is the world’s second-largest transshipment port handling 22.07 million TEU of container cargo, and compared to other port authorities (PA), it has a large business scale in all fields including port logistics, port operations, port construction, and North Port redevelopment, with a considerable workload requiring communication with the private sector per employee.

Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “Due to the nature of the institution, which has a higher workload communicating with the private sector compared to other PAs, we will continuously strive to protect the human rights of internal employees so that conflicts or disputes among internal employees do not spread to external stakeholders and that we always respond warmly and kindly to realize customer-first management.”
