[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] In Imsil, Jeonbuk, the "Faceless Samgye Angel" has donated more than 400 million won this year as well, contributing a total of 1.25 billion won over three years to help neighbors in need.
According to the county on the 31st, an anonymous donor who only revealed that they are from "Samgye-myeon, my father's hometown," and who had donated a large sum of 800 million won in 2021 and 2022, donated 450 million won again this year on January 27 through the Community Chest of Korea.
The anonymous philanthropist, Mr. A, said, "My parents always told me to live a life caring for those in need, so I try to practice sharing."
He added, "Due to the COVID-19 situation and the heating cost bomb, prices have risen, so support for families with children, who are facing increased difficulties, has been increased compared to last year."
Accordingly, the county plans to provide the donations to 1,212 low-income households starting at the end of next month.
The donation conditions and method are the same as last year, but the support amount for households with children has increased by 100,000 won compared to last year.
For households with one child, 300,000 won will be paid; for two children, 400,000 won; and for three or more children, 500,000 won will be paid monthly for five months. Additionally, 200,000 won will be provided once to low-income households without children.
Mr. A's donation conditions were: first, to guarantee anonymity; second, to deposit the funds on a fixed date over five months to help the recipients' lives; and third, to receive the support results after five months, with no other conditions attached.
Mr. A said, "I want to help the children in my hometown who are struggling," and previously donated 370.8 million won in 2021 and 430.3 million won in 2022 to the Community Chest of Korea.
As news of this philanthropist donating more than 1.2 billion won over three years spread again, residents said, "We were surprised by the large donations in the previous two years, but this year, an even larger amount was given to help the local neighbors in need. This person is truly remarkable," and added, "In these difficult economic times, with high inflation and rising heating costs, this will be a great help to neighbors facing hardships."
The county will do its utmost to ensure that not a single eligible person is left out in receiving this precious donation and plans to send a separate notification letter to convey the warm heart of the anonymous philanthropist.
County Governor Shim Min said, "I deeply thank the donor who, without revealing themselves, thought first of neighbors in need and donated a large amount despite the difficult economic situation," and added, "We will carefully deliver the donated funds according to the donor's wishes."
