Hyundai Department Store Group Awards Scholarships to Children of Fallen and Injured Police Officers

Scholarships of 500 Million KRW Awarded to a Total of 343 Recipients

Hyundai Department Store Group announced on the 31st that it has awarded scholarships totaling 500 million KRW to 343 children, including 157 children of police officers who died in the line of duty and 186 children of police officers injured in the line of duty.


Since 2011, Hyundai Department Store Group has been providing the Parangsae Scholarship to children of police officers who died or were injured in the line of duty, as recommended annually by the National Police Agency. Over the past 13 years, a total of 1,957 children of fallen and injured police officers have received 3.47 billion KRW in tuition support.


Since 2008, Hyundai Department Store Group has also supported tuition and family living expenses for children of fallen and injured firefighters. Including this year's support, a total of 686 recipients have received 2.15 billion KRW over 16 years. Starting this year, the group plans to expand support programs to families of fallen and injured military personnel.


A representative of Hyundai Department Store Group said, “We deeply honor the noble spirit of uniformed public officials who sacrificed themselves for the safety of the nation and its people, and we are very proud to support their families. We hope that our group's small contribution will enhance the pride and dignity of the families of fallen and injured uniformed officers and help their children grow into healthy members of society.”
