KT Skylife Launches Lightweight Electric Wheelchair 'AutoWheel'

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Oh] KT Skylife announced on the 31st that it has launched a lightweight electric wheelchair product called ‘Auto Wheel’ that is light and easy to move.

Last year, Skylife signed a business agreement with Haicore, a company specializing in robot control technology, and jointly developed a smart electric wheelchair product to provide mobility services aimed at improving mobility convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups and seniors.

Although high-priced foreign products are sold in the domestic market, many users use manual wheelchairs due to the price burden. The goal is to develop an electric wheelchair that is lightweight and offers excellent performance for its price, enhancing daily efficiency and providing joy and convenience when going out.

The electric wheelchair ‘Auto Wheel’ launched by Skylife is a product in which a special wheel with a built-in 320W rechargeable battery and the wheelchair body are ergonomically and simply combined. It allows convenient electric movement indoors and outdoors through a Bluetooth-based wireless joystick and can travel up to 45 km on a single charge.

It can also rotate in place even in narrow spaces and is equipped with an electronic brake and collision prevention sensors that emit obstacle warning sounds and automatically stop before collision, providing safety accident prevention functions. With a relatively light weight of 30 kg and folding capability, it can be loaded into the trunk of a compact passenger car, making it convenient for long-distance travel.

Skylife operates a program where users can directly experience the functions and performance of the Auto Wheel. By making a reservation in advance on the dedicated Skylife Auto Wheel page, users can experience it for free at the Skylife headquarters located in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

Additionally, to commemorate the launch of the Auto Wheel smart electric wheelchair, Skylife is offering a benefit of 700,000 KRW discount limited to 100 units. For orders in the metropolitan area, a professional technician will deliver the product free of charge and provide guidance on usage and precautions.

Jung Hoon, Head of Marketing Services at KT Skylife, stated, “Transportation-vulnerable people hesitate to go outside due to the inconvenience of not being able to move on their own. We expect Auto Wheel to be an innovative product that allows them to experience the value of free movement, and we will continue to challenge ourselves with better products and services related to this in the future.”
