This training was promoted to enhance the special environment adaptability of rescue team members, such as underwater search in severe cold, and to improve the response capability for life rescue in winter water accidents.

The special rescue team drilled holes in the ice at the entry (exit) points, conducted circular, back-and-forth, and two-person team underwater searches, practiced rope-based hand signals, and simulated emergency situations such as hypothermia response for drowning victims.

They focused on winter disaster preparedness specialized training, including ▲winter diving safety procedures ▲improving underwater search and rescue capabilities ▲enhancing emergency response capabilities due to freezing of breathing equipment ▲education on safety accident cases during winter water accidents.

Kim Jaeseung, the response team leader, said, “Winter water accidents are completely different in nature from general water accidents, so continuous rescue technique training is necessary,” and added, “We will do our best to protect the lives of the people by improving rescue capabilities through repetitive practice.”
