Sales of 212,697 Copies in Just 5 Days
Attention on Whether K-pop Girl Group's First Week Sales Record Will Be Broken
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The group 'LE SSERAFIM' has surpassed 210,000 copies sold of their debut single released in Japan.
According to the Oricon chart dated the 28th, LE SSERAFIM's local debut single 'FEARLESS' recorded sales of 51,249 copies on the day, ranking first on the daily singles chart.
The album topped the chart for three consecutive days (January 24?26) from its release day. On the chart dated the 27th, it ranked second but regained first place the next day with nearly five times the sales compared to the previous day.
LE SSERAFIM's Japanese debut single sold 212,697 copies within five days of release. This is close to the record set by IZ*ONE in 2019 with their Japanese debut single 'Suki to Iwasetai' (好きと言わせたい), which holds the top first-week sales record for a K-pop girl group debut album at 220,000 copies, with a difference of only 9,000 copies.
Given the current album sales pace, the industry expects LE SSERAFIM to break this record within three years. If LE SSERAFIM members Kim Chaewon and Sakura, who are former IZ*ONE members, surpass the record they previously set, it will be a notable achievement.
LE SSERAFIM has also demonstrated global popularity by entering the US Billboard Global charts (dated January 21) and Spotify Global 'Weekly Top Songs' (tracking period January 20?26) for 14 consecutive weeks with the title track 'ANTIFRAGILE' from their second domestic mini-album of the same name.
