Espinoza recalled, "I still find it hard to believe that I won," reflecting on the time he purchased the lottery ticket. That day, after finishing a long day of work, he dragged his tired body to a grocery store in Delray Beach, Florida. When he parked his car in front of the store and lined up in front of the lottery machine, a man cut in front of him.

He said, "I didn’t confront the man and just decided to buy the lottery ticket at the counter," explaining that he was too tired to make a fuss. After buying the lottery ticket right after the man who cut in line, he scratched it with a coin and was shocked.

He had just won $1 million. Although it wasn’t the top prize of $25 million (about 30.875 billion KRW), Espinoza cheered, saying, "I received $1 million." Afterwards, he immediately drove to the lottery headquarters to confirm the win again before it really sank in.

According to the Florida Lottery Fund website, the odds of winning $1 million in the '500X The Cash' game are 1 in 267,739, and the price per ticket is $50 (about 60,000 KRW). Espinoza received $828,000 (about 1.0226 billion KRW) after taxes. He stated, "I plan to buy a house for my family with the prize money."

Meanwhile, the grocery store where the winning ticket was sold will receive a $2,000 (about 2.47 million KRW) bonus commission.
