Jindo-gun to Provide 50,000 KRW Monthly to 1,300 Youths

Expectations for Alleviating Cultural Deprivation and Reducing Economic Burden

[Jindo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Nam-jung] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do will provide 50,000 KRW monthly to teenagers starting from the second half of this year.

According to the county on the 30th, the Youth Dream Voucher Support Project targets about 1,300 teenagers aged 13 to 18, providing voucher points worth 50,000 KRW per month.

They will be given a point-type electronic card worth up to 600,000 KRW annually, which can be used at movie theaters, performance halls, sports facilities, academies, bookstores, stationery stores, opticians, bathhouses, and beauty salons.

The county plans to officially implement the program this year after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, enacting the Jindo-gun Youth Dream Voucher Ordinance, and recruiting affiliated stores.

In particular, by providing 50,000 KRW in vouchers monthly, it is expected that teenagers will participate in cultural and hobby activities, alleviating cultural deprivation, reducing the parenting burden on parents, and positively contributing to revitalizing the local economy.

Additionally, this system is a universal welfare program regardless of income, so some teenagers who previously received selective welfare benefits are expected to be freed from the stigma of being part of a vulnerable group.

County Governor Kim Hee-su said, “With this support, teenagers, who are future assets, will have opportunities to freely nurture their dreams, and parents are expected to have reduced economic burdens related to child-rearing and education.”
