Global Sustainable Development Experts Gather in One Place... GEEF2023 to be Held on the 2nd of Next Month

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Yonsei University will hold the "5th Global Sustainable Development Forum (GEEF2023)" over two days on the 2nd and 3rd of next month under the theme "Turning Point; From Crisis to Opportunity."

Now in its fifth year, GEEF2023 is a forum where experts in sustainable development from around the world gather to build consensus on various international issues and seek solutions.

This forum will feature participants from various fields, including Ban Ki-moon, the 8th UN Secretary-General; Heinz Fischer, former President of Austria; Amina Mohamed, UN Deputy Secretary-General; Graca Machel Dielders, Vice Chairperson (former First Lady of President Nelson Mandela); Park Jin, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Kang Kyung-wha, former Minister of Foreign Affairs; Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul; Professor Kim Hyung-seok; Premalal Jayasekara, Sri Lanka Minister of Ports, Transport and Aviation; Rick Mahe, Minister of Health of Vanuatu; Elana Lee, Senior Vice President of CNN; and Mod Hamdi, President of the University of Malaya.

The forum will feature in-depth discussions on various topics addressing international crises, including a keynote speech by Vice Chairperson Graca Machel, and themes such as △Digital Health △Infectious Disease Diagnosis △Smart Cities △The Future of Higher Education △Climate Change Crisis △Social Innovation △Decarbonization Prospects. Additionally, unique programs such as △Special Session on Peace Poet Yun Dong-ju △Yonsei Young Star Session △Artist Talk will be prepared to enhance the forum's diversity and private sector participation.

Seonghwan Seo, President of Yonsei University, emphasized, "This year marks a critical midpoint of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (2015?2030), a time to critically evaluate past achievements and move toward better goals," adding, "This forum is a turning point to overcome unprecedented global crises and establish worldwide cooperation."

Meanwhile, those wishing to participate in the forum can pre-register through the forum website until the 1st of next month, and on-site registration will be available at Yonsei University's Centennial Hall on the day of the event.
