‘5th Preparatory Meeting for the Asia-Pacific Regional Radiocommunication Conference’ Hosted in Busan Busan City Hall.

The Asia-Pacific Regional World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) Preparatory Meeting (APG) is an international conference held in preparation for the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC), the highest decision-making meeting in the field of radiocommunication of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which takes place every four years.

APG (APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC) is a preparatory meeting of member countries of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) for responding to the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC). It is usually held 5 to 6 times before the WRC, and in 'APG23-5', '23' refers to the year 2023, and '5' indicates the 5th meeting.

This event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT), organized by the Korea Radio Promotion Association, and is expected to be attended by about 500 government representatives and officials from 38 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. They will discuss the agenda of the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC), the world's highest decision-making meeting in the field of radiocommunication, to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), this November.

The city of Busan expects this international event to greatly contribute to the bid for the 2030 World Expo in Busan and plans to actively promote it through various administrative supports in cooperation with the Busan Tourism Organization and BEXCO.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, "We welcome the hosting of this international conference in Busan and hope that various information technology (IT) conferences can be held in Busan in the future." He added, "We will do our best to make Busan a central city leading South Korea in future science and technology."
