Hyundai Motor Group Unveils 'Mobile Living Space' Connecting Mobility and Buildings

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Hyundai Motor Group unveiled an animation video titled 'Mobile Living Space,' which showcases an organic connection scenario between mobility and buildings, on the 30th.

In the approximately 4-minute video, Hyundai Motor Group depicted a situation where mobility is attached to a building, allowing passengers to move freely between both sides without external exposure. It suggested the possibility of utilizing the vehicle's functions?such as space, air conditioning system, and entertainment system?not only as a means of transportation but also like electronic devices in a home or office while living in the building.

In particular, it conveyed the meaning of providing customers with richer value and life experiences through various new technologies that transform mobility from a simple means of transportation into an advanced future-type living space.

Since 2020, Hyundai Motor Group has been conducting research and development in related fields after revealing the concept of connecting buildings and mobility through a future technology video called 'Active House.' Especially in the vision unveiled this time, specific technologies and patents that can be practically applied were included.

In this vision, Hyundai Motor Group designed a gate structure and scenario that expand the mobility loop to dock with buildings, enabling the connection and disconnection between buildings and mobility with zero margin of error. They also developed technology to adjust the height of mobility so that users can enter and exit without bending their waists by matching the entrance sizes of buildings and mobility.

Additionally, they devised a rubber material connecting part capable of contraction and expansion to completely block outside air without damaging the exterior of mobility and buildings. They developed scenarios for wireless charging using building power while mobility is connected to the building, as well as control technologies that enable the use of mobility air conditioning systems. Hyundai Motor Group has filed 10 technology patents related to connecting mobility and buildings in major domestic and overseas markets.

A Hyundai Motor Group official stated, "Hyundai Motor Group is redefining the mobility domain not only in electrification, autonomous driving, and connectivity but also in new fields such as robotics, future aerial mobility, and smart cities," adding, "We will conduct research and development in various areas to advance human life in line with the changing definition of mobility."
