Superintendent Kim Dae-jung recently discussed measures to strengthen the educational capabilities of small schools in rural farming and fishing villages during a visit to the education site in Sinan, including ▲guaranteeing customized basic academic skills ▲operating distinctive curricula ▲and educational programs utilizing the strengths of multiculturalism.

First, to guarantee students' basic academic skills, they will identify learning and non-learning factors for students who have not reached basic academic proficiency and provide customized support through artificial intelligence (AI) online content and integrated programs. Support will also be strengthened to improve self-directed learning abilities of students in small rural schools and to bridge the digital divide.

Through the operation of a small school expo, excellent Jeonnam-type small school models will be disseminated, and after-school programs at small schools will be solidified by diversifying demand-centered programs and securing excellent instructors.

Utilizing Jeonnam’s unique situation of having the highest proportion of multicultural students nationwide, the plan is to simultaneously enhance the educational capabilities and competitiveness of small schools in rural farming and fishing villages through effective multicultural education programs.

Starting this year, the regional career and college counseling centers will actively support the career paths and college admissions of students in rural farming and fishing villages.

Superintendent Kim Dae-jung stated, “Education must now be cared for by everyone,” and added, “We will actively support the cultivation of attractive small schools through joint curricula between schools and distinctive curricula linked with local communities.”
