Notably, the district has specially prepared booths for North Korean defectors and multicultural families to foster harmony and communication among residents.
At the folk game experience area, traditional folk games such as tuho throwing, seesaw jumping, rice cake pounding, and kite flying will be available, along with representative Jeongwol Daeboreum seasonal customs like cracking nuts (bureom), Jwibulnori experience, and a wish paper writing corner.

Starting with the ‘Ganggangsullae Harmony Festival,’ the evening will be illuminated by a spectacular fireworks display and conclude with the highlight of the festival, the ‘moon house burning.’
During this moon house burning, 1,500 wish papers written by residents at the New Year’s Day sunrise event at Yongwangsan will be burned together with the 15-meter moon house, the largest in the district, to dispel misfortune and pray for happiness and peace throughout the year.
As this is a large-scale event attended by over 3,000 residents annually, the district has conducted a safety management plan review with related agencies such as Yangcheon Police Station and Yangcheon Fire Station to ensure safe and smooth event operation. Measures include maintaining safety distances around the moon house, deploying safety personnel, and fire prevention actions to prevent accidents.
On the day of the event, about 200 personnel including police, Marine Corps veterans association members, and volunteers will be deployed to maintain order on site.
Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “I hope families come out to enjoy the Daeboreum event returning to residents after four years, experience the warm traditional culture, and have a prosperous and happy year like the bright full moon rising in the sky.”
