[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] A fire broke out at a feed warehouse in Incheon Port and the large flames were brought under control after about two hours. Fortunately, there were no casualties.


According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters, at around 3:32 PM on the 28th, an unknown cause fire broke out at a feed warehouse in Jung-gu, Incheon. As the fire started, thick black smoke rose, and 31 related reports were received by 119.


Upon receiving the reports, the fire authorities issued a 'Response Level 1' alert at around 3:38 PM, dispatching all personnel from the local fire station to extinguish the fire. The fire department deployed 156 firefighters and 52 pieces of equipment, including unmanned water trucks, and brought the major flames under control at around 5:36 PM, 2 hours and 4 minutes later.


The fire severely damaged the interior of the warehouse, which was constructed with sandwich panels. Fortunately, one employee inside the building evacuated quickly, resulting in no casualties.


The warehouse has a total floor area of 4,506㎡ and was confirmed to be storing 2,000 tons of livestock feed. The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire once the remaining fire extinguishing operations are completed.
