People Power Party Targets Lee Jae-myung's Prosecution Appearance: "A Bizarre and Annoying Sight"

People Power Party Targets Lee Jae-myung's Prosecution Appearance: "A Bizarre and Annoying Sight" Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who is under suspicion of breach of trust related to preferential treatment allegations in the Daejang-dong and Wirye New Town development projects, is responding to reporters' questions as he appears at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 28th as a suspect. [Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] On the 28th, the People Power Party intensified its criticism targeting Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who appeared before the prosecution.

Chief Spokesperson Park Jeong-ha stated in a commentary, "The prosecution's summons investigations will continue, and the trials will follow, but how long must we endure this bizarre and irritating spectacle?"

Park sarcastically remarked, "It is very noisy when someone involved in corruption crimes appears before the prosecution. After losing the presidential election, the general shamelessly ran in a parliamentary election in a region with no ties and deceived the public, then even seized the opposition leader position and staged a sit-in, with a momentum that seems to pierce the sky."

He further pointed out, "Lee Jae-myung's politics are truly petty and dirty. He insists on linking his alleged facts to the Democratic Party, splitting public opinion in half, and dragging everyone into the mud in a desperate attempt to survive."

Floor Spokesperson Jang Dong-hyeok criticized in a statement, "He said he would quietly appear before the prosecution with only his lawyer, but he mobilized the 'Cheomhoe' and prepared a 'bulletproof comprehensive gift set.' Choosing Saturday and refusing 9:30 AM while insisting on 10:30 AM were all part of a meticulous plan for a grand send-off ceremony."

People Power Party leadership candidates also joined in. Representative Kim Ki-hyun wrote on social media, "You can cover the sky with your palm, but you cannot hide the truth of the numerous aides who have been arrested or died." Representative Ahn Cheol-soo, after an urgent inspection visit on heating conditions for elderly living alone, told reporters, "If he feels frustrated, he should clear the charges right there, and if any decisive evidence emerges, it is only natural to face legal punishment."
