[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 28th at midnight that there were 23,612 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. This is 4,032 fewer than the previous week. Although the number of confirmed cases increased due to more diagnostic tests conducted after the Lunar New Year holiday, the number has decreased again after three days.


From the 22nd to this day, the daily new confirmed cases for one week were 16,617 → 9,217 → 12,250 → 19,527 → 35,086 → 31,711 → 23,612, with a daily average of 21,146 cases.


Among the new confirmed cases on this day, 48 were imported cases, one fewer than the previous day. Of these, 33 (68.8%) were arrivals from China.


The number of confirmed cases by region (including imported cases) is as follows: Gyeonggi 5,842, Seoul 465, Busan 1,639, Gyeongnam 1,633, Gyeongbuk 1,347, Daegu 1,182, Incheon 1,151, Chungnam 990, Jeonnam 892, Jeonbuk 863, Gwangju 761, Chungbuk 712, Ulsan 693, Gangwon 634, Daejeon 614, Jeju 401, Sejong 186, Quarantine 7.


The number of deaths on the previous day was 29, seven fewer than the day before. The cumulative death toll is 33,361, with a cumulative fatality rate of 0.11%.
