Seoul Gangseo-gu Provides Subsidies for Eco-Friendly Boiler Replacement Eco-friendly Boiler

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Tae-woo) is implementing the ‘2023 Household Eco-friendly Boiler Distribution Project’ year-round to improve air quality.

The project provides subsidies when replacing general household boilers with eco-friendly boilers, and it is promoted annually to help both the environment and reduce heating costs.

The eligible applicants are households that replaced their general household boilers with eco-friendly boilers certified with the environmental label this year.

General households will receive 100,000 KRW per unit, and low-income households can receive up to 600,000 KRW.

Applicants should bring required documents such as the consent form related to the subsidy application and photos of the fully installed boiler, and apply online through the subsidy application system.

More detailed information about the required documents can be found on the ‘Gangseo-gu Office website (Nuri-jip) - Notices/News’. However, those who installed eco-friendly boilers last year are not eligible for the subsidy, and providing false installation dates may result in a fine of up to 10 million KRW.

A district official said, “We ask for much interest and participation in installing eco-friendly boilers, which are environmentally friendly and help improve energy efficiency,” adding, “We will do our best to implement policies that protect residents’ health and contribute to stabilizing their lives in this era of high prices.”

Eco-friendly boilers have higher energy efficiency compared to general boilers, and households spending about 1 million KRW annually on city gas can save approximately 130,000 KRW in heating costs.

Additionally, the amount of nitrogen oxides, which cause respiratory diseases, is reduced to about one-eighth compared to old general boilers, making it effective in reducing fine dust.
